It is not always cheaper to re-upholster or make your own piece, but you are guaranteed quality and many of our clients enjoy the creative process.
Stripes are timeless, always smart they can lengthen or widen your furniture and upholstery. But it takes some thinking, which direction to run the stripe, especially the arms, if the stripe is wide should where to centre it, should you self pipe? It is interesting how the thin yellow Liberty stripe is worked across the arms on the sofa to the left.

The pile on velvet provides new challenges, ideally the velvet must run downwards, like cat fur. If it is very plush you may need piping, and for good velvet piping an experienced upholsterer is required. The quality of the velvet is very important and we are more than happy to show you the different types such as cotton, viscose or polyester, they all have their pros and cons.
