Santai translates as relaxed, and there is a calm precision to this furniture. Eye-wateringly beautiful, smooth and silky to stroke and decidedly comfortable, each piece is borne from Central Javanese expertise. For Santai bamboo furniture is a specialty, and exquisitely crafted.

The Nongkrong collection is about coming together for a chat and snacks. Designed by Singgih S. Kartono and inspired by the old Javanese Hanacaraka script. On the Nong chair here you can see the long lines of the back and front legs flow together to form the backrest. This chair is wonderfully comfortable and perfect for sitting for long lengths of time

For the refinement of our furniture pieces, we apply long grown manual skills of experienced craftsmen from central-java – such as wood carving and rattan weaving. The preservation and revitalisation of traditional skills, local lifestyle and at a higher scope, Javanese culture, lies at the heart of our company.

Precise carpentry, adept drying of wood and respect for the origin of the woods and bamboos is integral to their work. Santai’s bamboo furniture are unique and extremely comfortable

Paying homage to classic Javanese easy chairs from the '60's, the Jenki & Sedan chairs come either upholstered or with Santai's gorgeous densely woven rattan. Their design was carefully refined by Singgth S. Kartono.

The heritage of Java, craftmanship & design are entwined to lovingly create each piece. The beauty and true soul of these pieces does not come easily.
